Hello, I’m Dr. Liz Orr
My name is Dr. Elizabeth Orr, and I’m a Clinical Psychologist who has worked for over 10 years in the Guelph area, providing therapy to children, teens, and adults. I work at the Guelph Psychology Centre, and specialize in anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I offer in-person and virtual options.
You will find that I’m evidence-based in my practice. I received training in evidence-based therapy from the University of Waterloo, with a PhD in Clinical Psychology. Unique to this training was that each session was observed by Registered Clinical Psychologists, with high quality supervision in between sessions. This training had a strong focus on ethics. I value your confidentiality and safety as a client.
You will also find that I am flexible in my approach. If you prefer more structured therapy with the use of thought records and tangible strategies, I’m happy to work in this manner. I am also very open to a less structured, more conversational, and/or philosophical look at patterns and negative thoughts that may be getting in your way. We can make connections between past and present, and figure out how to free yourself from past patterns. We can, of course, do a mix of both.
Above all else, I value warmth and compassion. I prioritize relationships, nature, and respect for all beings. I work to bring these values into the therapy session. I will meet you where you were at, and try my best to help.
I look forward to working with you.
